Tara Devineni, MSW, LCSW

Growing up as a second generation Indian-American in a small town and spending most of my young adult life in big cities- the concept of “home” was fleeting. I learned over time “home” needed to be a place I could return to within myself, where I felt safe, understood, and seen. This is what I strive to help my clients develop in themselves and I am deeply honored to be granted access to go on this journey with them.

I am a licensed clinical social worker in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington DC and have been working in the field of social work for over 15 years. I have extensive experience working with adolescents and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. My areas of interest and expertise include grief and loss, identity exploration, 1st and 2nd generation immigrant mental health, intergenerational trauma, and life transitions.

My approach to therapy is guided by my education and training in psychodynamic and relational psychotherapy which I believe leads to long term change. Through my work with clients I provide a safe space for painful memories and emotions to be explored and work with them to gain a deeper understanding of how these experiences continue to shape them today. Together we work to develop new coping skills and bring an enhanced level of self-awareness to their lives.
